Joy from Dogs of Gaya charity and a local vet with the street dogs
Children at the Shanti India School
Charities
I support a few different charities when I travel to India to help them in their wonderful work and a percentage of each clinical session and retreat goes to these charities. One of my passions is the wellbeing and education of children as well as the care of street animals. In Bodhgaya, there are a couple of very worthy charities such as Dogs of Gaya whose key focus is to take care of the street dogs. The charity runs regular animal camps to treat sick dogs, provide rabies vaccines, de-sex. feed and otherwise offer care and love. The other is a school, Shanti India, set up to help educate the children of poor families who are often required to work for their families in poorly paid work or are begging during the day. Both charities are in Bodhgaya in Bihar state, one of the poorest in India. Shanti India provides schooling for around 250 children.
Another more recent charity I sponsor is the Shashthi Childrens’ Fund. This is a private fund which provides educational supplies to remote and isolated village schools in rural India. Every Rupee goes to the children.
